Way back in 2011, we watched a movie called The Song Spinner. Based off a novel by the same name, it was shot in and around a place in Nova Scotia called Louisbourg Fortress. As soon as we saw the place on film, we knew we wanted to visit, and planned an entire trip to Canada because of this move.
It was well wort it!
Walking into the depths of a coal mine – even one that has been long-since abandoned – is a scary prospect. To consider on top of everything that the mine actually extends under the ocean is even more terrifying.
One of the most memorable vacations we’ve ever been on as a family was to Nova Scotia in late summer 2012. I returned with nearly 2,000 photos from that trip, some of the best of which were from this spectacular seaside graveyard.
We also visited a coal mine, which was a fascinating experience – especially with the lights out!
