The Story Behind the Photo: August 20, 2012 (Part 1)

Grave of Michael Pope

One of the most memorable vacations we’ve ever been on as a family was to Nova Scotia in late summer 2012. I returned with nearly 2,000 photos from that trip, some of the best of which were from this spectacular seaside graveyard.

We also visited a coal mine, which was a fascinating experience – especially with the lights out!

Walking around a northern Yorkshire town, we came across this cat in a graveyard. There’s just something unsettling about a black cat sitting on your grave. Especially with those eyes.

I love graveyards, and this one by the sea in Nova Scotia was just beautiful. I love that someone is still leaving flowers for Michael, even twenty years after he died.
