I have a really bizarre phobia of potatoes with sprouts and “eyes”. As I scrolled through my wordpress reader and happened upon your delightful photo several things happened: my breathing became rapid, I felt butterflies in my stomach, my palms became sweaty, my throat tightened, the lights in the room started to feel too bright, and I wondered why on earth anyone was posting this crazy photo!!! I’m glad you tagged it ‘ew’. Weirdly, it also made me smile at the sheer craziness of it.
I had potatoes like this one spring – i put a layer of dirt in a huge planter, tossed in the potatoes, a thin layer of dirt over and every so often, as they grew, threw more dirt on – –
Got about a months worth of potatoes from that one plant – 🙂

I am so very sorry – I had never considered that someone could be so affected by that photo. If it helps, they were thrown out pretty much right away.
Ew. was pretty much a good tag for it, I thought. It does make me wonder how many other WordPress posts might be tagged Ew.

Do you know, you’re making me wish I hadn’t just thrown them out now. Free potatoes – can’t complain!
