Where Did I Go?

Wow; it’s hard to think that it’s been over a month since I last posted on here, and two months since I wrote anything that wasn’t book-related. Some blogger I am!

I could say I’ve been busy, which would be true to an extent; my stay in California has me working 10-11 hour days throughout the week, and come the weekend I’m just exhausted. But the truer truth is that I’m also lazy. I ought to be able to take a few minutes out of my week to write something on here, even if it’s just to say hi and bye.

I started this blog in 2011 as a way of sharing my writing, and while that’s still the case to some degree, I also like to share random thoughts and ideas as well. There was a period when I did quite well at this; throughout 2012 and 2013 I published nearly 300 posts a year (including daily photos), and received not only several user-given WordPress awards, but was included in WordPress’ ‘Freshly Pressed’ twice—once for a post on parenting, and the other for a post on mental illness. Compare that to this year: 56 posts total, and we’re over halfway through.

Several times I’ve tried to renew my commitment to blogging, and often made a fairly good go at it—usually early in the year (don’t we all have new year’s resolutions). But it typically peters out after a few months as I get distracted, or my mental health condition worsens and deteriorates.

With that being said, I’d like to take a moment to officially announce my return, and the fact that I will (try to) commit to posting again at least once a week. I may try to bring back various themes (e.g. Thought of the Week or Music I Love), but for the most part I just want to write more.

In that regard, I’ve done better. I have nearly 15 chapters of Book 3 completed, leaving me only 10 to go. These are, in my opinion, some of the best chapters I’ve written, and I can’t wait to share them with you (you can review the last few chapters here). There is joy and sadness, fear and death, and I’m getting pretty excited as I approach the end of this book.

So for now I’ll leave this here—feel free to pop by and say hi. But look out for more in the coming days and weeks: I’m going to try harder.

Thank you for the readership over all the past years!
