1,000 followers. Thanks to all of you.

This is a momentous…er, moment…for me. On Saturday May 3, 2013, the delightfully artistic Vadermolt became the 1,000th follower of my little blog here at Satis. I’ve been tracking this count anxiously for the past few weeks, and I am completely floored that there are 1,000 people out there who feel I have something worth saying.

I started this blog in October 2011, with Why Are We Here? published on the 5th of that month. My first ever follower, Kana Tyler, joined me in my solipsistic journey shortly thereafter, and the knowledge that there was someone out there who actually wanted to read my words was simply astonishing. I was toying with the idea of writing at the time, the burgeoning ideas of The Redemption of Erâth churning away in my mind, and I thought that perhaps – just perhaps – it might help my confidence if people were to read my words. I couldn’t have been more unprepared for what was to come.

I have made some of the deepest and most meaningful connections of my life here on WordPress over the past 19 months, from those who give me feedback on my writing to those who ask for my opinions (shock!), those who have sympathized with my mental illnesses and those who I have been able to reach out and touch in their own struggles with life. It has been an intense, emotional journey, and I couldn’t be more humbled by the responses I’ve had. Every one of you has offered nothing but support and kindness, and despite the difficulties I have some days in bringing myself to the keyboard, I wouldn’t regret a single moment of it.

So thank you, to each and every one of you; you’ve made this entire journey possible for me. I would have given up a long time ago, I’m sure, if it weren’t for your support. In recognition of my 1,000th follower, I’ve decided (with her permission, of course) to bring her name to a character in The Redemption of Erâth. The sound “Vadermolt”, or perhaps “Vadèrmolt”, fits wonderfully into the language of the ancients:

“Ye Vèra Vadèrmolt, è ye grütha tu fè schöertà.”

I will continue writing, bolstered by the knowledge that I have the support of so many, and here is to the next 1,000 people I’ll meet here on WordPress!

  1. I’m truly happy for you, although not surprised. People have a way of finding their way to good things. Cheers to you on your momentously momentous milestone moment.

Tell me something!
